Roofus The Painter

30. December 2009 by Martin Rue 0 Comments

image Meet Roofus. He’s a professional painter. He paints because he’s discovered that paintings sell pretty well and it affords him the finer things in life. Roofus gets particularly stressed when producing his work, and sometimes he’s not even sure if the painting will work out. Usually he manages to pull something out of the bag at the last minute though.

Roofus doesn’t really know much about mixing or composing colours. When it comes to selecting a subject, he avoids anything with detail due to his hit-and-miss method of working. Any slight complexity in the subject would likely result in a failed painting. In fact, Roofus isn’t comfortable with painting anything that he hasn’t painted before.

Roofus tends to use pastels. He used acrylics once but he ruined his best shirt by leaning into his palette and he now prefers the safer option. Roofus doesn’t like to use the word art – he believes his paintings are more like products from a product line. Roofus doesn’t smile much while working.

Roofus certainly wouldn’t talk about art outside of work.

Roofus has a hard time understanding his friend Jim. Roofus thinks Jim overuses the word art and spends far too much time talking about work outside of the working day. He can’t understand why Jim would ever meet up with fellow artists on the weekend. Jim knows too much about art – it’s all just colour and canvas really. Jim is too passionate and smiles far too much.
